My son Joshua was diagnosed at 3 yrs with Perthes’.
It started with severe pain in the groin which we were told was a pulled muscle by our GP.
2 months later the pain had returned and we were sent to hospital
for an x-ray. It was then confirmed that Joshua had Perthes’ Disease.
We were told later that he had it in both hips.
He has had many stays in hospital, including 2 Triple Pelvic Osteotomies. Joshua chose to have the operations as he knew he would benifit from surgery. He has had a very tough few years but he still comes out smiling.
He is now 10 and begining to enjoy doing 'normal' activities such as
playing football with his friends. It has been a very difficult time
for all the family but I would certainly recommend the operation to
any parent of a child with Perthes’.
Many thanks to Mr O'Hara.
